Grassi Pietre takes part to FIORI DI PIETRA ( Stone Flowers ) - Sculpture Competition for young students at Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence organized by Pietre di Rapolano in the beautiful scenery of Orti Dipinti , a community garden in the heart of Florence.
Here an outdoor sculpture workshop will be held for three days, from the 28th to the 30th of April 2016. The students of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, coordinated by Professor of hard natural stones and marbles techniques Dr Francesco Roviello, will work some blocks of Vicenza stone supplied by Grassi Pietre, they will realize their works armed with mallet, chisels and rasps as the tradition of stone cutters.
The workshop will be opened and can be visited during the weekend of 28th and 29th from 10am to 6 pm, here you can see the young students working .. April 30th at 5:30pm the award event will take place, during the White Night organized by the Municipality of Florence.
The winner will be declared by a special commission composed by the Academy of Fine Arts professors, architects and professionals working in the stone world . At the end of the day there will be a musical moment with a performance of "La Nuova Pippolese" a group of 20 instruments played with "Pippolos" (the pick, Florentine): guitars, mandolins and ukuleles that inherit the traditional Florentine song.
The event organized by Pietre di Rapolano in collaboration with Grassi Pietre has as its objective the promotion of a fruitful exchange and values between schools and companies. To enhance the great skill, deep specialization and the artistic and traditional craftsmanship of our art schools and the students who attend them.
